Spiritual Warfare

The Kentucky Mountain Mission Trip has been challenging! Things got started early last Sunday when Pastor Bob began having difficulty breathing. He was taken (by our resident angel, Dee) to the Emergency Room. As many of you are aware, Bob has been suffering from these episodes for about a year now with no explanation forthcoming from the Doctors who are overseeing him. The Emergency Room staff (in Kentucky, no less!) immediately diagnosed Bob’s condition as hyper-ventilation. The Doctor in charge described Bob’s symptoms to a tee and then informed him that none of this was life threatening and that it would continue to subside as he continued to lose weight. Bob has already dropped 65 pounds. God sent him to Kentucky to get the answer to his questions about his health! There were some other minor medical problems, including Darrel Lipscomb who had some sort of stomach or intestinal virus.

I think all this points out that we are in a war. Our folks are doing what God commanded us to do, Mark 16: 15 …”Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” They were under attack. Why? Because the enemy of our souls doesn’t want them to do that! If he can discourage any of us from doing what we are called to do, if he can make us give up, then his work is successful and we are defeated. I believe that it is quite clear that our folks were called to go to Kentucky. They are exactly where God wants them and the enemy doesn't like it! We have to remember this, “…our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”, Eph 6:12.

Our part in this battle, the part we who remain here in Warrenton play, is to lift up our prayers into the heavenly places and ask the Lord to show us (and the people in Beattyville) His glory. To provide the prayer covering they need. To realize that we play a vital role in this trip as well. The body of Christ functions best when it functions fully.

Communication has been spotty. How do these people get along without the internet? Where are all the cell towers? I hear some of them actually talk to each other! In person! :0) I did hear from Bob this morning and everyone is blessed and well and working hard. Let’s keep them in our prayers and pray them home safely!
