Each One Has Received A Gift
1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Here, Peter is speaking to believers. After admonishing his audience that there is not much time left, that we should love one another and be hospitable to each other (think about those things the next time you feel in any way uncomfortable with someone in the body of Christ) Peter tells them something wonderful and miraculous. They hear, and we should hear as well, that each one of them has been given a special and unique gift. Something that stands out from the multitude of gifts that God gives His children. Something that is totally and uniquely tailored to that one person.....you, me.... all of us.
How can God do this? Give each of us a different gift? The same way He gave us different personalities. The same way He made each of us an individual different from the rest. He does it by His sovereign grace.
We are to use our gift, Peter tells us, to serve one another...to help, encourage, exhort, teach, admonish, love and lift up each other as joint heirs of the kingdom of God. This demonstrates to each other, and to a fallen world, the magnificent grace of a holy God.
May He work in your heart today to encourage you to share your
gift(s) freely and joyfully, without hesitation or misgiving, as a sacrifice of praise to Him.
