We Made It!
After 17.5 hours of travel, we landed in Albuquerque! I think it's a pretty nice looking city but all we could see were lights BECAUSE IT WAS THE
MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!
The airport was huge and they parked us at a gate that provided us with about a 5 mile walk to the baggage carousel, through a completely empty airport passing untold number of empty gates. Along the way, I detected a theme; everything we look at has a vaguely Western/Mexican/Santa Fe look to it; the curtains, the carpets, the furniture, the wallcoverings, the restaurants, the billboards... everything!
The woman at the Budget Rental counter greeted us a little bleary eyed but
mustered up a big smile while she looked for our reservation. She cheerfully said, "I have a great surprise for you. We're upgrading you free of charge!" Sounds like good news for someone who reserved a subcompact, doesn't it? Silly me, for a few brief moments I was thinking, "Charger? Cadillac? Maybe a Jaguar!!!" I should have know better....it has not been that kind of trip....they gave us a 12 passenger van! They had nothing else available! So, Bob and I took off for downtown Albuquerque. Two guys with two small carry ons in a 12 passenger van.
More adventures tomorrow!

Maybe you got that 12 passenger van for some evangelical reason. Do you see anyone that might need a ride somewhere and who could benefit from hearing the gospel from a couple of preachers in a 12 passenger van ? Have a great time and don't eat at the Whataburger joints they have here in the southwest. They are a heart attack waiting to happen.
