Visiting My Mom
Kelly and I left for Detroit this morning. I really enjoy road trips with her. We travel well together and we always have a good time.
On this trip, Kelly had a surprise for me. Let me give you some background here: One of Kelly's Christmas many great presents was a Recording Studio. She's been writing a lot of music and with this, she can get it down on a CD and then add music and background tracks. She's just learning how to use it and the CD she gave me before we packed the car represented her first tree complete songs. I loaded the songs onto my Ipod and we listened together as we hit the road.
I was absolutely blown away! The songs were really amazing with truly Christ centered lyrics and intriguing melodies. It was an emotionally moving moment as I listened to God ministering to me through my wife. It was also a mighty blessing to see the gift He's given to her begin to rise up in such a marvelous way. I'll try to place a few of them on the blog this weekend!
We stopped in Youngstown to see my Mom and take her and her best friend, Toni to dinner.
We all went to Outback and had a great time (Tilapia, chicken, etc.) then we went back to Mom's apartment and reminisced for the rest of the evening. It's always good to see Mom and it reminds me that I should do it more often.
Tomorrow morning, we head out for Detroit!
