Lunch Today
I am always touched by our lunches in the Fellowship Hall. I usually have to finish my closing routine upstairs and seldom get downstairs until after everyone has started eating. I don't think I'd have it any other way.I really love the sound that rises up through the stairwell. From time to time I will just pause there and take it all in. I had that opportunity today, to just spend a quiet moment listening to the sound of life, the sound of fellowship, the sound of the body of Christ doing what God designed us to do, enjoy His presence and the presence of each other.
I like that it is a time where there are no "groups" or boundaries. Where we can all just hang out together for a while and enjoy each other's company. I am moved by the fact that we have all just worshipped God together and now are breaking bread together. It's not the first century church but, I think the feeling must have been the same.
I really enjoy the chance to chat, even if it's only for a moment or two, with our kids. They're growing up so fast but I see God moving in their lives and it's exciting to know that they have so much to look forward to. I watch them interact with each other and remember how scary/exciting the world was and how much comfort I took in my friends.
I see people just sitting around....fellowshipping.....and realize what a blessing we have here at WBF. Then I think about all the churches everywhere else where God is doing something very similar, knitting hearts together for His glory and honor. Our sermon today was about love and I didn't have to go very far to see it being put into effective use. It was right down the steps.
