There's a lot that goes on at WBF during the week. We see activities that minister to the body (Bible Studies, meetings and such) and activities that are in preparation for Sunday's service (worship practice, AV prep, meetings, etc). What we see on Sunday morning is the result of the hard work and commitment of a lot of people.

One of those hard working people is Matt Reavis, our 'sound guy'. Matt has been doing a great job on sound for about a year now and has just agreed to take over the scheduling and coordination of the whole Sound & AV program. Matt works hard to bring the best quality audio to us each Sunday morning and high quality recordings for our web site throughout the week. He takes it seriously as well he should. This is just as much ministry as anyone else performs at the church. If we can't hear.........well, we won't know what is being said!

Matt's job has been difficult this year because of the deteriorating condition of the loudspeakers we have in the sanctuary. You may not even have noticed them but they hang up and to the left of the pulpit and on the right over the second door. These speakers are over 20 years old and the speaker cones are worn out. This leads to all sorts of problems that Matt has been

trying to work around, the worst being that the sound we have been hearing is only about half of the full range of the musicians and their instruments. This is not to say everything has not been loud. It has been loud. But it has been what the audiophiles call 'muddy' or, not very clear as well.

All that ends this week! We have purchased, with the help of a generous contribution from someone in the congregation, a new sound system. You'll have the opportunity to hear it this Sunday. Matt and our drummer, Jason Pakalla have been working through the week to get it set up and now it's ready.
It looks odd, as far as sound systems go. A little like the obelisk in '2001'. I

won't mention the irony of placing this up on the stage at the exact same time that we are discussing idolatry in 1 Corinthians 10 except to say that
we will not be worshipping the sound system! For now, just think of it as a tall, skinny, motionless bass player who doesn't happen to have a bass or be playing....or singing.....or......well, you get it!
The great thing about this new set up is that it effectively replaces all the speakers, monitors and amps we had before. By the time we sell all the old equipment (other than the old speakers), we will have paid for the new system! God is good and we want to be good stewards of the blessings He gives us.
Many thanks Matt and to Jason as well for their hard work in serving us this week!
