Canonical Reading Plan for Jul 2, Psa 96-102

Today’s readings are Psa 96-102.

Psa 96 - Enthronement (The Lord reigns in judgment)
Psa 97 - Enthronement (The Lord reigns in power)
Psa 98 - Enthronement (The Lord reigns in righteousness)
Psa 99 - Enthronement (The Lord reigns in fidelity)
Psa 100 - Praise (The Lord is to be praised)
Psa 101 - Royal - (David pledges his uprightness)
Psa 102 - Lament (The Psalmist prays for God's protection)

Psalms 100, 101, 105 and 132 are all songs of praise and worship, all of which may have been sung as the ark was brought into Jerusalem, particularly 132.

Psalm 102 is a cry of complaint. We'll see this, from time to time, in the Psalms, with the psalmist almost always yielding to the Lord's will and extolling His virtues by the end of the Psalm. In this, we see that it's OK to pour our hearts out to the Father, as long as any anger or bitterness are dealt with, repented from and God is acknowledged for His greatness and His love.
