Chronological Reading Plan for May 17, Psalms 26, 40, 58, 61, 62, 64
Today's readings are Psalms 26, 40, 58, 61, 62, 64, Tomorrow's are 2 Sam 19-21.
Read these psalms with David's situation in mind. His life is a mess. His son want to kill him. The people he ruled over have abandoned him and embraced the man who stole his throne. He is on the run. Yet, David expresses his trust in the Lord and will not act without His guidance. David, in the face of losing everything, is completely surrendered to the Lord.
Another thing to keep in mind when reading the psalms is that they are written by and through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as is all Scripture. The things David says about God are not just his opinion, they are what God says about Himself, His self-revelation. All of it is absolutely, unequivocally true and accurate.
