Chronological Reading Plan for May 11, Psalms 65-70

Today's readings are Psalms 65-67, 69, 70. Tomorrow's are 2 Sam 11-12 and 1 Chron 20. 

Psalm 65 is probably a hymn of thanks for the harvest (vs 9-13). Psalm 66 gives thanks for national deliverance and for individual deliverance, as well. Psalm 67 is based on the priestly blessing in Numbers 6. 

All of these are most likely a response to the major victories seen in 2 Sam 10. 

The theme of Psalm 69 is the suffering of the righteous believer and has echoes in John 2 and Mt 27.

Psalm 70 is an urgent cry to God in a desperate moment. It is possibly the main element in the strategy used in defeating the enemies in 2 Sam 10, trust in God.
