Chronological Reading For May 13, Psalms 32, 51, 86, 122
Today's readings are Psalm 32, 52, 86, 122. Tomorrow's are 2 Sam 13-15.
This is an important set of Psalms, not that the others are not. But this set shows us David's heart as he deals with his sin with
Bathsheba as well as the victory over Rabbah. Psalm 52 is particularly revealing as
David acknowledges the depth to
which he has fallen and extols the virtues and greatness of
God, a beautiful example of how to repent with a contrite heart.
Notice, David does not shy away from admitting his mistake. He does not justify it, does not blame anyone else. Nor does David does revisit his guilt over and over again. He confesses, surrenders himself to the Lord and turns his focus on God's greatness rather than wallowing in his personal failures. This brings glory to God and takes the spotlight off David allowing the healing/learning process to begin.
