Chronological Reading Plan for April 19, Psalms 121, 123, 124, 125, 128, 129, 130
Today's readings are
Psalms 121, 123, 124, 125, 128, 129, 130. Tomorrow's are 2 Samuel 1-4.
Tomorrow, we start the
book of 2 Samuel, which recounts the reign of David as king (about 1010-970
BC), We will see David's ascent, his tremendous victories and the expansion of
Israel's borders, stretching from Egypt to the Euphrates. God is still
making His people into a mighty nation!
We will also see
David's humanness as he falls into sin with Bathsheba and the impact that sin
has on David, his family and his people. Throughout it all, David's heart for
God will be put on display. His anguish over his sin and the grace he receives,
in spite of his weakness and propensity to stumble can and should be an
encouragement to us all. David never takes God's grace for granted, is always
contrite and repentant and consistently praises God for His grace and
blessing.
Here's a map that will
show much of Israel's development under David.
