Choosing the Planned Knowing - A Poem By David Ahlgren
An original poem by one of our newer folks:
Choosing the Planned Unknowing
(1 Pet 1:2, 2 Tim 1:9)
We who have been called out of darkness
Into His marvelous light by our choosing –
Into His marvelous light by our choosing –
We were first drawn by His choosing;
God knew us before time through the cross.
God knew us before time through the cross.
By setting limits in advance He guided us,
Before we could hear the good news;
Before we could hear the good news;
Such grace to choose us out of the world --
What mercy to call us to believe when heard!
What mercy to call us to believe when heard!
So God foreknow, predestined, and called,
Giving us the means to choose Christ as Savior;
Giving us the means to choose Christ as Savior;
Yet still sovereign in the election to know --
That each of us could believe when told...
That each of us could believe when told...
So ordained we elected to choose life,
Faced with our sin we chose the sacrifice;
Born again we were made alive in Christ;
Eyes opened we know no darkness but light.
Faced with our sin we chose the sacrifice;
Born again we were made alive in Christ;
Eyes opened we know no darkness but light.
Appointed to eternal life we believed,
Chains of sin no longer enslaving;
Chains of sin no longer enslaving;
The wonder that God knew from the start,
Eden's plan led to the Lamb for our saving!
Eden's plan led to the Lamb for our saving!
