Predestination and Free Will
This is as good an explanation as I've heard about this issue which has been an unresolved debate for many years with both sides having strong points. Is it possible God is big enough to cover all of the sides here, allowing a measure of free will combined with human responsibility to co-exist and be equally true to the doctrines of Election and Predestination?
I have always found Acts 13 to be fascinating in this respect. We see human responsibility in Acts 13:46, where Paul tells the Jews they "have judged themselves unworthy of eternal life. Two verses later, in Acts 13:48, Paul goes to the Gentiles with this result, "...as many as had been appointed believed". Vs 46 demonstrates human responsibility. Vs 48 demonstrates Divine Election...both in the same passage.

But first, here's a keeper quote from that article:
"God is in charge of
This is true of
He does not violate our free will, yet free will serves his purposes.
We’re not supposed to understand all this.
