Care packages for Our Soldiers
As many of you already know, one of our men has been stationed in Afghanistan for about 4 months. He still has over two months left to go. A group of our women got together and conducted a drive to send he and his troop some goodies. We emailed them and got some surprising results:
Beef Jerky and Oreos were popular requests
All the Children's Sunday School classes, many
of the Adults and even the kids on Diane Strang's
School Bus wrote notes of thanks and appreciation
to the soldiers
Clean socks and foot powder were among the requests
We take these things for granted. Our troops covet
them.
Wet wipes are valuable in a country where water
is scarce. Many donated Bibles, devotionals and
novels as well.
Powdered drinks were another popular request
A lot of thoughtful miscellaneous items were
donated; insect spray, vitamins, candy, tea
another big item was deodorant
The boxes (there were six large ones!) should arrive sometime next week. Let's pray they are a blessing to those guys who are sacrificing so much so that we can enjoy our freedom. Our gestures fall so short of the deep appreciation we have for them and their diligence. May God grant them His protection and preservation. May God bless their families while they are gone. And may He bring them all home safely.
