Canonical Reading Plan for Jun 26, Psa 70-73

Today's readings are Psa 70-73.

Psa 70 - Lament (David prays for God's deliverance)
Psa 71 - Lament (the psalmist pleads for God's rescue)
Psa 72 - Royal (Solomon extols God's king)

Psalm 72 marks the end of Book Two of Psalms. Like the end of Book One (Psa 41), it is Davidic in nature (speaking of God's king) and ends with the phrase "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel (Psa 72:18). The general theme of Book Two was "The King on the Throne." The theme that will dominate Book Three will be "The King is Chastised."
