Chronological Reading Plan for May 4, Psalms 1, 2, 15, 22, 23, 24, 47, 68

Today's readings are Psalms 1, 2, 15, 22, 23, 24, 47, 68. Tomorrow's are Psalms 89, 96, 100, 101, 105, 132.

Most of these are attributed to David around the time of the return of the ark to Jerusalem. There's a strong prophetic theme to Psalm 2.

Note Psalm 22 which includes some of the words spoken by Jesus on the cross. You can feel the agony of separation and despair, yet the Psalm, which Jesus clearly references, resolves itself in praise and hope. The pain of Jesus's ordeal was beyond imagination. Even as He suffered, He showed us the way to handle our trials and pain; by acknowledging them, by recognizing the hurt and the despair, by realizing we don't have the strength or fortitude to carry on and finding hope in God and His promise to see us through.
