Chronological Reading Plan for May 19, Psalms 5, 38, 41, 42

Today's readings are Psalms 5, 38, 41, 42. Tomorrow's are 2 Sam 22-23, Psalms 57.

These psalms are a beautiful response to the question of what a believer does about sin.

David recognizes the consequences of his sin. He mourns over the sin, not the consequences, at least not the earthly ones. You see, David feels the separation from God his sins have spawned. He is acutely aware that the things he's done have hindered the most precious thing he has, his communion with the Father.

David's heartfelt confession and grief over his disobedience is the only way for his relationship to be restored. Rather than lingering over his circumstances, he turns to God and repents.
