Righteousness, Justice and Our View of God

A guest post from my wife, Kelly.

Really enjoyed (as always) talking with my hubby about the "simplicity of God" this morning.  There's nothing really simple about it!  God - being all of His attributes at the same time.  Yet, I'm struck by this thought...

Without this beautiful blend we'd all be doomed.

As we'll see tonight in the Ladies' study, the foundation of God's throne is righteousness and justice, but His lovingkindness and truth go before Him.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindess and truth go before You.  Ps 89:14

Often when we find out a "new" nuance of God, when we discover some quality, some attribute, some characteristic we were unaware of until reading it in the Word, we have to wrestle to receive it but our view of God must be remade to conform to what Scripture says is true.  I don't think any of us like having our world rocked or having to realize our view of God has been too tiny.  Everything is so much more comfortable when we can coast along.  But we MUST receive what the Word says as Truth.  It is with the full view of God that we can revere/fear Him yet still draw near Him.  Math lesson for the day:

Justice+Righteousness = Right Judgment but when Lovingkindness and truth are added we get great, great Mercy.

Lovingkindness and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.  Ps 85:10

I love these little lessons.  They're not so little.  They're not so simple.  But they are comforting, thought provoking and true.

God bless you today...what started for me as a late to work, spill coffee down my front while driving morning has blossomed into a "What an awesome God we have!" day.  Thanks for listening...
