Our Softball Team

Kelly and I went to see our softball team play last Sunday afternoon. What an unexpected blessing it was to watch them play and to be able to fellowship, hoot and holler with our brothers and sisters out there on the baseball diamond.

This is supposed to be a 'non-competitive' league. Hmmm...someone should tell that to Lisa Spencer, who made one of those run-into-the-fence-at full speed catches or Chandler James who was diving all over the infield catching line drives and unexpecting 'men' ( I use the term loosely) between the bases! Couple that with the steely nerves of our world class pitcher, Jeff Foley and his two catchers, the imperturbable, Karen Foley and the indefatigable Ashleigh James, and you've got the recipe for upset! Bradley James and Nathan Tolley making key plays in the outfield, Scottie James leading the team with grim determination, Lynn Dudley giving every ounce of her considerable talents and strength and Ron Spencer surveying the scene and inserting himself at precisely the right time and place......all only add to the excitement.

Every other team I saw out there had all 'men' while our team had some ladies and some of the young adults from WBF on it. Obviously we were outclassed and outgunned. A hopeless situation!

We won!

Because we won last Sunday, we get to play in the final round of the tournament this coming Sunday. The game starts at 2 at Vint Hill Farms near the gym. Come out and join the fun! Help Kelly and I root the team on to win the tournament!

Lori James sent these pictures of our folks in action!
