What A Blessing for Mother's Day - Angels Among Us!

We had a really great service today! Full of unexpected surprises and blessings.

Worship was truly Christ centered and inspired by the Holy Spirit with two original songs in our set today ("Thine Is the Greatness", written by Ron Scruggs and one other). The kids presented pink carnations to all the mothers in attendance and read a poem. John Boswell gave a remarkable sermon about the redemption of Naomi from the Book of Ruth.

I was blessed throughout the entire service but the capper came right at the end. After John spoke, Diane and the team sang "Call On Jesus" and absolutely blew the lid off the sanctuary! God continues to bless through Diane and it's wonderful to see her gift growing and being used so powerfully.

That would have been good enough for me. But then, while they were taking the offering, the band played a song Kelly wrote a while back called "Kinsman Redeemer". It was awesome! Not only was it awesome but it was a perfect fit for John's message. God is good! What a way to end a beautiful service and what a beautiful image to send us home with.

One unexpected blessing came when I went downstairs to get a cup of coffee and found Jeff Foley MANning the nursery. He wanted Karen to be able to sit in the service so he took over for her. Many thanks to Jeff and the others who helped take the load off the mothers in the service today!

This is exactly what we've been teaching about! When we offer up our gifts in service to the body and as an offering to the Lord, He does something wonderful with them. They multiply and become greater than we ever imagined they could be.

It was comforting to be able to just attend the service and see God moving among us in so many ways. I like to believe He was smiling over WBF today and saying to all who helped out, in so many areas, "Well done My good and faithful servants."
