We're Off to Basics 2008!

We leave Monday morning for Parkside Church where we will attend the 2008 Basics Conference, hosted by Alistair Begg. This is another highlight of our year made more special by the fact that we have the opportunity to go with a larger group of guys.

This year we have ten men going with us; Bob Hoke, Drew Hoke, Richard Ashby, John Boswell, Jim Ely, Ron Spencer, Scott Ferrell, Jeff Turner, myself and Pastor Adan Martinez, the pastor of Mission Christian Emmanuel who meets in our sanctuary on Sunday afternoons. We're all excited about having Adan with us this year.

The theme this year is "Preaching the Gospel to Ourselves". Guest speakers are Jerry Bridges, Voddie Baucham, and Alistair Begg. We heard Voddie at last year's conference and we're really looking forward to hearing him again. Some of you may be familiar with Jerry Bridges who wrote "The Pursuit of Holiness".

It promises to be a fully packed couple of days in Cleveland, Ohio. We'll eat well, get free books (!!) and sit under some great teachers. Please keep this group of men, their travels, their jobs and their families in your prayers. I'll be blogging from the conference and we'll be back in town Wednesday night.
