Monday After Easter

I'm sitting in my living room Monday morning just trying to absorb everything that has happened over the holidays. I really enjoy the quiet stillness of a morning like this. It allows me to clear my mind and helps to get a perspective on what has gone before and how to go forward.

Kelly is beginning to pack some things in preparation for a trip to Ohio to visit my Mom. Mom broke her leg last Sunday. Painful as it was, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. While taking X-rays to determine the extent of the damage, the Doctors discovered that Mom had Osteoporosis in her knee and that it had deteriorated to the point that the knee didn't have much bone left. While they were setting the broken bone, they were able to graft some healthy bone into her knee so she could continue to walk normally. God is good!

We spoke with Mom last night, she's in a great Rehab Facility and has found at least one friend there. This is really good news as Mom is what the staff would call a "challenge" when it comes to rehab. But the food there is great, they have an ample staff and the amenities are top drawer.

It seems the last two weeks have been filled with crises regarding parents, mothers in particular. Andy Ward's mother fell and broke her pelvis, Ron Scrugg's mother was experiencing difficulty, Matt Reavis' mother is struggling, my mother is as well and there are others. I think we all realize that, at our age, these things are becoming more commonplace. To a certain extent, they should be expected. Nonetheless, the timing here is not coincidental with many of our key people for the Easter holidays tied up in similar struggles. This serves as a reminder that prayer is our primary defense against the attacks of the enemy. I believe that the prayers of those who were interceding for us is what allowed the blessings of God to flow so freely these last two weeks.

Last night, Kelly and I were reflecting on the last two weekends. The services have been a tremendous blessing and so have all the people that worked so hard to make them possible. We revisited one of our favorite themes; how much God has blessed us. We are blessed in our relationship with each other, our relationship with our children (and Sammi), our relationship with our family at WBF and particularly, we are blessed in what God has done and is doing at WBF. We are constantly humbled and amazed at having the honor and privilege to minister here. We appreciate the love and support so freely given and are so unworthy of receiving it. Only a great, loving and merciful God could ever arrange for anything like this to occur.

May we always point to Him in all we do and say! May His blessings continue to flow through you and those close to you this week!

  1. Do you see the similarity between Grammy's eyes and Sammi's? They look the same in that shot, in terms of shape.
