Final Night at 2008 Shepherd's Conference
We're home in Virginia this evening. I hope I've been able to share some of the excitement we experienced at the Conference. We were good traveling companions and it's really great to have a group of godly men to debrief each other after the sessions and work shops.
Everyone agreed that the odd thing about these meetings is that, even though you are sitting still for the vast majority of the time, you end up exhausted by the time the Conference is over. the teaching is of such a deep level, so well done and comes at you so fast, it's tough to try and absorb it all. We always order the CD package so we can, throughout the year, go back and review what we heard.
Yesterday, I heard two of the best sermons I've ever heard in my life! Steve Lawson's talk out of Hebrews on the Sword of the Word was nothing short of phenomenal. The presence and weight of the Holy Spirit was tangible on the campus while he was speaking.
What a day it turned out to be! Phil Johnson, one I've come to look forward to every year was excellent. Then came the final session in the evening. John MacArthur closed the Conference with his sermon on Christians as 'slaves' to the Lord. Again, the truth was being spoken in power, with confidence and under the authority and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
We awoke at 4 AM, got to the airport and boarded the plane home staggered by the power of what we had just experienced and awed by the beauty, power and strength of the Word of God. We have been ministered to so mightily and in so many ways, it has become a moving and humbling experience sitting under these seasoned and anointed men of God.
We're all glad to be home with our families but, I know I speak for Richard, Bob, John and Ron as well, we have been to the mountain top and each one of us has come down changed and more hungry than ever God to have his way with us in every facet of our lives.
Speaking for myself, I am; exhausted but energized, awestruck but eager, humbled but excited. I feel like a little kid who has just been turned loose in a candy shop. There's so much to learn, so much to share, so much flavor and sweetness to experience! My only prayer tonight is that God's will becomes my only desire.
Here are some photos of the campus at Grace Community Church at night;
