Awwwwww.....Isn't She Cute?

Why is it that babies get away with so much? A baby can do almost anything and the general reaction is always, "Awwww....". They are pretty cute but I'm not sure that gives them license to do things we would never tolerate from adults. For instance:



Babies are allowed to make any bodily noises they like without repercussions. What would be the reaction if I were to allow whatever sounds or odors a free reign at the dinner table? Would our guests look at me and say, "Awwwww.......he's so cute!"



Let's say you're out to the movies with someone and they lean over to tell you they just made a dirty diaper? Would you go, "Awwww....are you a happy baby now?"



How about this: You're at the Starbucks and while you're waiting for your Venti Latte with a double shot, the person next to you says, "Hi!" and what's left of his Frappaccino comes rolling over his bottom lip and dribbles onto his blazer. "Awwww you made messy!"



What would you do if you were at Bible study and the person next to you reached up and began pulling on your nose and refused to let go? Would you dismiss it with an, "Awww.....Billy is soooo strooong!"



Finally, think of this one.......you've had a few folks over for desert and now that you've served them, you have to hoist them onto your shoulder and pat their backs until they belch. "Awwwwww.....that's a good little girl....let it out!"
