Around Town - A New Breakfast Location!
Well, actually, an old one. But it's been remodeled. Town & Country, on RT 29 headed toward Gainseville, just past the Fauquier bank and 7-11 in New Baltimore, experienced a fire a few months ago and has been closed for renovation.
Town & Country is somewhat of a landmark in Fauquier County. It's a throwback to the days when all travel was made on secondary roads and roadside inns and restaurants were the eating mode of the day. Staffed by families and colorful locals, the amenities were always fairly rustic and you usually took your chances on the quality of the food and service that was rendered. The old adage was that if "...all you saw were out of town plates..." in the parking lot, it was better to pass on by. The non-local plates were an indicator that the food probably wasn't very good and the folks who lived in the area all knew it!
Mark Barnura and his family purchased Town and Country about 12 years ago and have been diligently improving the menu and service ever since. They are Christian Palestinians and have some amazing insights and perceptions of world events. A fascinating and committed family, they take their customers and their rich family heritage seriously.
I haven't visited the remodeled Town & Country yet (they re-opened last Friday) but I will be there this Friday morning at 7:30 AM. We have a group of men that have been meeting at Town & Country for breakfast and coffee ever since Mark and his family took over. The conversation is engaging and the Barnuras appreciate the support. If you have time, drop in on us one of these Fridays!

Before I moved to Warrenton 22 years ago, we, my then husband and I used to drive out from Manassas to eat there.
