Israel
There are a number of differing views of the part that Israel plays in the end times.
Some think that Israel missed its' chance when it refused to embrace Jesus Christ as the Messiah. These folks believe that the church has now become God's chosen people. This is over simplified but is the basis for a philosophy called 'Replacement Theology'.
Others believe that Israel is a key player in the End Times scenario and that its' reformation in 1948 was a sign of the beginning of the last generation prior to the 1,000 year reign of Christ. This is the classic Premillennial position.
Still others (Amillennialists) believe that most of the end times events occurred in AD 70 when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, the Temple and over 600,000 Jews. These people believe that we are now in the millennial reign of Christ.
All these descriptions are vastly abbreviated versions of the three main doctrinal positions on eschatology, the study of the end times. It would be quite difficult to go onto much detail on any one of them in a medium such as this but it's fun to think about.
I share all that because I ran across this today. It is a thought provoking little video from of a relatively new but really great sight called GodTube. It runs just over 4 minutes.
